Frequently Asked Questions about our Capital Campaign and New Church
As the Capital Campaign continues its success we have been asked questions about the campaign. Each week we will answer the most often asked questions in this section. We ask you to submit your questions electronically to holyname@holynamecc.org or you can write them out and drop them in the Building Campaign Question Basket located in the entryway.

Q: Well, did we make the $500,000 challenge?
In case you had not heard from last week - WE DID IT! The parish really came forward to break the $500,000 barrier. Parishioners rallied
during the final week to push us above the $500,000 mark. In fact, we hit $656,310 as our final tally through last Friday. After meeting the challenge and then including the $500,000 challenge, we finished August with over $3,500,000 pledged! This week we stand at over $3,700,000 pledged. While we stress that a project of this scope takes all gifts, great and small, we want to sincerely thank our anonymous challenge benefactor for
making such a sacrifice and for putting us to task. It has really motivated people and brought a wonderful feeling of success to the parish. We still have more to go but we have made great strides and should be very proud.

Q: Why do we need a fancy brochure?
A: The brochure may appear “fancy and expensive” but it is borne out of stewardship from parishioners who freely donated their hard work and talents. By using these talents we were able to design the brochure without cost – a savings of many thousands of dollars. Likewise, the bulk of the printing expense was deeply discounted.

The design and layout of the brochure was created by parishioner Jo Lauter, writing and text was composed by Father Bayer and Jo Lauter, the photographs are from the parish archives and structural drawings are copies of what we have on hand. This brochure, the Cornerstones articles from the bulletin, and other campaign literature will be accessible for preview on the parish’s website thanks to the stewardship work by Chad James. Greg Effinger has donated his time to design the campaign logo and donate supplies and Theo Dexter used his sign company to produce and install the campaign banner in front of the church. We extend our thanks to them and all the campaign volunteers who have worked so hard to get materials ready, call on families, and provide the framework that is so essential, but behind the scenes. Please thank them and pray for their work and dedication.

The rationale for a brochure is to produce something we can review at our own convenience. The inclusion of information about the project is meant for us to prayerfully reflect upon. The giving chart allows us to realize that we can make a substantial gift by giving small amounts over the course of five (5) years. The drawings give us hope and incentive for truly beautiful and Christ centered buildings. This is the only tangible
evidence of our campaign until the church is built and every parishioner should have this information.

Q: How can parishioners contribute time and talent as well as their treasure?
We need volunteers to call on families for their pledges. All of those who have volunteered for this have expressed how rewarding it is.
Volunteers select who they visit and many select families they have not met or call on families they have not talked to in a long time. Those who have been making calls say it is more like socializing than asking for a pledge. We also stress that this is about us making a home for God and a home for our faith so that we can worship together in a building we are proud of and feel connected to both spiritually and physically.

We would invite your business to consider the donation of products or services for the new building. We will need to finish the building which will include, but not be limited to; floor covering, building a baptismal font, painting, and landscaping. Likewise, the building will need electrical,
mechanical, and plumbing – all of which can be partially or fully donated in lieu of cash donations (these In-Kind donations are also partly or wholly tax deductible). However, an In-Kind gift of this sort must come from a licensed contractor in that particular field. For example; a plumbing
contractor may perform the plumbing work in conjunction with the general contractor for the new building. The parish would benefit by using a plumbing contractor who is assisting in building his own church and will be motivated from within to make the new building a showcase. In so doing, the parish would pay for all the labor and materials but the contractor would reduce or omit their profit margin. This creates a substantial savings in the building expense while allowing the contractor to make a sizeable non-cash contribution. There are several ways to account for this situation that differ from this example but provide the same net effect.

Because of liability regulations it is not possible for individuals to ‘just volunteer labor’ on the building while it is under construction. Please call the office to discuss your donation options or to volunteer for the campaign. Consider putting stewardship into action and become a volunteer. And of course the most important assistance we could ask for is prayer.
