Holy Name Bulletin
Lenten Rules of Fast and Abstinence The following information was taken from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website: “Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of universal fast and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year and have not yet reached their 60th year. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence (from meat) is obligatory for all who have reached their 14th year. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection. Fridays in Lent are obligatory days of complete abstinence (from meat) for all who have completed their 14th year.”
New Bulletin Deadline! Please have any inserts for the weekly bulletin to the office by Monday at 12 noon.

appreciate a pastoral visit. If you know of someone who is in the hospital and would appreciate a visit from a Priest or a Minister of Holy Communion, please inform the parish office. We would be happy to visit them, bring them Communion, or even the Sacrament of the Sick if we know they are in the hospital.

ministries is the morning coffee and fellowship time after the Sunday 8:30 a.m. Mass. We have a group of very dedicated volunteers who bring and set out the “goodies” and make the coffee each week and we are so grateful to them all. It would be wonderful to add to our list of volunteers for this ministry so, at the beginning of this new year, we would like to invite new members to our Coffee Ministry! If you don’t have time to bake, Safeway and City Market have great bakeries and funds are available from the donations people give each week! Training is provided to make the coffee (it’s easy!!) So, if you’re interested call the parish office for more
information, 879-0671. Prayer to St. Joseph for Employment Dear Saint Joseph, you were yourself once faced with the responsibility of providing the necessities of life for Jesus and Mary. Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my anxiety over my present inability to support my family. Please help me to find gainful employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart and that I am soon able to provide for those whom God has entrusted to my care. Help us to guard against bitterness and
discouragement, so that we may emerge from this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessing from God. Amen.
